As part of the mission Essen associated with, it has opened its operation in India in 2016. The Newly built 50,000 sq. ft. USDA/FDA standard plant at KINFRA Park, Calicut University P.O., Kerala is a state of the art facility poised to meet the growing needs of nutritional products in India and abroad.
The R&D Center at the KINFRA Plant is the most comprehensive facility associated with the manufacturing plant. Essen scientists and food technologists will conduct studies on sports nutrition, child nutrition, nutrition for young and elderly and nutritional studies on the causes of metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity, and develop products and formulate diet that can reduce the risk of these diseases.
Essen Nutrition has extensive quality control measures in place adhering to the standards and laws laid down by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and by the US Food and Drug Administration and US Department of Agriculture. Essen Operations meet the requirements of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) for food safety systems, including the key components for the continuous improvement and strengthening of the food safety operations. Additional food safety is captured through Hygienic Zonic Programs which control contamination transfer risk through employee practices and process design.
Dr. MadhavanAnirudhan, The President of Essen Nutrition is a multifaceted, multi-talented Scientist with many distinctions to his credit. As a Professor of Chemistry he holds Ph.Ds in Nuclear Chemistry and Nutrition. Was also the former corporate Director of R&D for Sandoz Nutrition, a consultant to US food giants including Dean Foods, Kraft Foods, Sara Lee, Kroger Corporate Technology and a dedicated member of Food Label Regulatory Committee of USFDA. He is one of the first Certified Food Scientists (CFS) from Institute of Food Technologists, U.S.A. He was awarded the Best R&D scientist by National Food Processors Association, U.S.A. In 2007 he was bestowed with the PravasiBharatiyaSamman Award by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, The President of INDIA.
